Who is Dave?

Hi, I’m Dave.  Someone who enjoys tinkering to find out why something wont work (then fixing it of course!). This is me without the cape…

UPDATE: Its been a while!  Since the last update, I now have my Recreational Pilots Certificate (Light Sports Aircraft up to 600 kg) and a Passenger Endorsement so can take the wife up for a fly!  Second major update – we left home in May 2021 to travel the country, and are still travelling…  jump over to my And Around We Go blog for updates/mods on the van and bits or our Facebook page for location updates.  There wont be any more updates here for a while as I am concentrating on the travelling for now.

In my 35 years of working history, I have worked in component level Electronics repair, IT and Telecommunications. I started off my working life repairing torpedo guidance systems for the Department of Defense! Over the years in different industries my roles have covered installation and repair of mobile phones, telecommunications, computers, office networks etc. (both office and site based), sales, wholesale sales, training, project management, management, senior management and sole trader. This experience has molded me into the all rounder I am today. I can offer advise, I can install, I can repair; whatever you need!

Currently I am focusing on assisting end users navigate their way around the introduction of NBN, specifically in the Northern end of the Sunshine Coast, QLD. It can be a minefield with the lack of full disclosure by some (most) providers, leaving end users without essential services they did not know they would lose. Or you may be just sitting there with a brand new modem still in its box, no internet, and no one to help you get it working. Maybe you just bought a new computer and cant get it onto your network. This is where I step in, cape and all and save the day (well actually I don’t have a cape – yet). Click here for some recent examples of help provided.

Next is my hobby/passion, flying remote piloted aircraft. This has been a hobby of mine since my father first taught me at around age 12, or 40+ years ago. Over the last few years this has changed to include the now all-to-common Drones.  I am now CASA RePL certified to 25kg for flying and have just completed my Train the Trainer to allow me to both train others and certify them for up to 25kg multirotor or fixed wing.  So if you are wanting CASA certification, or just some hands on lessons to help you along, get in touch!

This web site itself was a wonderful birthday present concocted between my wife and my best friend. So if you need any web site work, give my best mate John at Media Mojo a call 🙂
